Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

When I can't find the words
To say how much it hurts
You are the healing in my heart
When all that I can see are broken memories
You are the light that's in the dark

(Chorus)
You are the song,
You are the song I'm singing
You are the air,
You are the air I'm breathing
You are the hope,
You are the hope I needed
You are

And when my circumstance leaves me with empty hands
You are the provider of my needs
When all my dirtiness has left me helpless
You are the rain that washes me

(Chorus x2)

If I had no voice,
If I had no tongue,
I would dance for you like the rising sun.
And when that day comes and I see your face.
I will shout your endless glorious praise.
(x2)

(Chorus x2)

TID-bits

  • Next time you get in your car to go somewhere, think about this (that) song.
  • You can’t get from where you are to where you want to be without enclosing yourself inside your vehicle.
  • In the same way, you can’t get from who you are to who you’re ultimately created to be without wrapping God around you.

---------------------------------

  • I’ll find myself suffering from tunnel vision often.   Not the actual eye condition, but tunnel vision in the fact that all I can see are my problems.
  • This song says that God is the light that’s in the dark, and He is the provider of needs.
  • He’s outside the tunnel, ready to come in and get me.   It says in Matthew 7:7 that all I have to do is ask and seek.
  • How about we do that together?   Here’s a prayer:   “God, I ask you to provide for us,   so let us seek you, and help us to realize that you are all we need.”

---------------------------------

  • If you’ve ever had a broken window you know that light still shines through it.
  • What you lose, is comfort.   Either heat is going to escape or get in depending on the time of year.
  • This song lets you know that through your brokenness you still have the light of God shining on you.
  • And as a bonus, you have His comfort too!

---------------------------------

  • There are times when two words are all you need to know:
  • “Jesus Wept” - those two words tell you that Jesus feels our pain.
  • “Pray Continually” - those two words are your basic direction for life.
  • “You Are” - Those two words remind you that God is enough.

---------------------------------

  • There’s a story of a student who asks a professor “How do I make God more real in my life”
  • The professor dunks the student's head underwater and holds him there.
  • When He finally brings him up he asks “what did you want more than anything else?”
  • The student replies:   “Air.”
  • The professor says   “God is omnipresent, like air, when you seek Him as much as you do air, then you’ll see how real and present He is in your life”
  • Think about that as you listen to this song.

    Scripture References

    Colossians 3:3-4

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

    ---------------------------------

    Romans 5:1-5

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.

    ---------------------------------

    Phillippians 1:18-19

But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice. Yes, and I will continue to rejoice,   for I know that through your prayers and God's provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about a time that you were made speechless because of a problem.   What were the first words you uttered after that?   Were they “Oh, God...?”

    ---------------------------------

Talk about something you owned that became broken.   Could you repair it just by speaking to it?   Compare that to God, who is able to fix your brokenness just by speaking - you speaking to Him, and Him speaking to you.

    ---------------------------------

How is your relationship to God essential to your life?   Think about how you would answer that if you were asked.   Are you to the point where you need God as much as you need the air you breathe?
