Taking It Deeper

When the stars burn down
And the earth wears out
And we stand before the throne
With the witnesses
Who have gone before
We will rise and all applaud
Singing blessing and honor
Glory and power
Forever to our God
Singing blessing and honor
And Glory and power
Forever to our God
When the hands of time wind fully down
And the earth is rolled up like a scroll
The trumpets will call
And the world will fall
To its knees as we go home
Chorus (X2)
Star of the morning
Light of salvation
God of all mysteries
Lord of the universe
Righteous King
There will come a day
Standing face to face
In a moment we will be like Him
He will wipe our eyes dry
Take us up to His side
And forever we will be His

  • A friend of mine was using a “star finder” app on his phone.
  • He found the star “Betelgeuse” in the constellation of Orion.
  • The facts surrounding it said that it may go supernova within the next millennium.
  • However, since it’s hundreds of light years away, it may have done so already and the light of that event just hasn’t reached us yet.
  • Stars are a great reminder of how God works in our lives.
  • He may have already set into motion the thing you need.
  • But it just hasn’t reached you yet.

  • Have you ever taken the time to contemplate a million years from now?
  • If you have Jesus in your heart, the Bible says you have eternal life.
  • So you will live to see the end of the earth and the ultimate fate of the universe.
  • What I’m contemplating is what I can do today, to help someone else see it.
  • Have you thought about that?

  • I knew someone with an old player piano.
  • The kind you pedaled, with a scroll that caused the music to be played.
  • One of the fun things was how the scroll got rolled back up when the song was done.
  • You’d reverse the scroll direction, pedal as fast as you could, and the mechanism would roll the scroll back up.   When it got back to the beginning, the unsecured end would go “flip flip flip flip flip flip flip flip.”
  • Every kid I saw do that loved it.
  • You know, we’re going to feel that same kind of joy when the scroll of this earth is rolled up, like this (that) song mentions.
  • Because we’ll see it happen from a place of joy called heaven.   A place where all the struggles of this earth will have been flipped away.
  • Talk about an old player piano.
  • Compare rolling up the scroll with the same line in the song.
  • Finish by mentioning the joy we’ll feel by being in a place where earth’s struggles have ceased.

  • This is one of those “perspective” songs.
  • One of those songs that help you to realize that the struggles you’re having will one day end.
  • That today’s struggles will one day be a distant memory.
  • And the only thing that will matter is knowing that you’ll be standing before God.
  • These are the words you’ll be singing at that time...

    Scripture References

    Revelation 5:13

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: "To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!"

    Isaiah 34:4

All the stars of the heavens will be dissolved and the sky rolled up like a scroll; all the starry host will fall like withered leaves from the vine, like shriveled figs from the fig tree.

    Revelation 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.

    Your Own Experiences

There is a phase that says “Christians can be too heavenly minded and be no earthly good.”   How do you find the balance between praising Him, and serving Him tangibly on earth?

Talk about a time you knew He was wiping your eyes dry, like it mentions in this song.

Talk about how you like to get kudos for a job well done, and how this song is a way for us to give kudos to God.
