Taking It Deeper

Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise from the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache, you think its more than you can take
But you’re stronger, stronger than you know

Don't you give up now, the sun will soon be shining

You gotta face the clouds to find the silver lining

I've seen the dreams that move the mountains

Hope that doesn't ever end even when the sky is falling

I've seen miracles just happen

Silent prayers get answered

Broken hearts become brand new

That's what faith can do

It doesn't matter what you've heard

Impossible is not a word its just a reason for someone not to try

Everybody's scared to death

When they decide to take that step out on the water, but it will be alright

Life is so much more than what your eyes are seeing

You will find your way if you keep believing

Overcome the odds you don't have the chance

When the world says you can't

It will tell you that you can

Even if you fall sometimes you will have the strength to rise

  •  Even though there may be a fish symbol on your car, it doesn’t mean you’re meant to “flounder.”
  • You are meant to rise up, to be strong, to make changes in this world.
  • It takes faith, and it takes you believing the words of this song.   Here’s Kutless...

  • You ever see those big bodybuilders who break cinder blocks and rip phone books with their bare hands.
  • You can do that kinda thing too.
  • Maybe not with cinder blocks, but you’re strong enough to move mountains.
  • It happens when you have faith in the power of God to do the heavy lifting.

  • Have you ever lost a button on a shirt or blouse while you’re wearing it?
  • So you get a safety pin to temporarily fix the problem.
  • In our lives we often try to fix the missing pieces with temporary solutions.
  • But God has the permanent fix.
  • And it all starts with faith.
  • Ask what safety pins are good for?   Usually just temporary fixes.
  • Mention how we tend to look for temporary safety-pin-fixes to lasting problems.
  • Finish with encouragement about God having permanent fixes, and how it starts with faith.

  • I saw this little bitty (OK, itsy bitsy) spider in my window.
  • (No comments, please, about how dirty my house is).
  • He had a fly that was at least five times bigger than him caught in his web.
  • It took a long time, but the spider finally wore the fly down.
  • It made me think about how tiny I feel compared to how big my problems are.
  • But I have faith that God can both strengthen me, and wear my problems down.
  • Talk about how you hate spiders, (that is, if you do), but you have to give them credit for their tenacity.
  • Mention that “They often deal with things in their web that are much bigger than them.”
  • Finish with talking about how they don’t give up, and compare that to how God will give us strength, through faith, to help us keep going...

    Scripture References

Mark 4:40   (This is where Jesus calms the storm)

He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?”

    Matthew 17:20

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you. ”

    John 14:12

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

    Psalm 31:24

Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.

    Your Own Experiences

Have you had something happen to you recently that’s made you feel like a failure?   Talk about how faith steps in at that point to keep you going.

What’s a situation where you had to say to yourself that “it’s just going to be OK?” Talk about how that is faith at work in your life.

What do you do when you have to “pick yourself back up?”   Pray?   Trust? Did something like that happen within the last month that you can share?
