Taking It Deeper

Even when the rain falls
Even when the flood starts rising
Even when the storm comes
I am washed by the water
Daddy was a preacher
She was his wife
Just tryin’ to make the world a better place
You know, shine a light
People started talking
Trying to hear their own voice
Those people tried to accuse my father
Said he made the wrong choice
Though it might be painful
You know that time will always tell
Those people have long since gone
My father never failed
Even if the earth crumbles under my feet
Even if the ones I love turn and around and crucify me
I won't ever let you down
I won't fall
I won't fall
I won't fall as long as You're around me

  • Bo and Bear Reinhart, the brother duo that make up Need to Breathe say this song is from a situation their dad went through.
  • He pastored a church and was falsely accused about something.
  • However, He maintained his integrity through the stress of his accusation.
  • This is a message of hope for anyone who’s having lies told about them.

  • This is a potato chips in the couch type of song.
  • Remember when your mom asked who was eating chips on her good furniture, and your brother said it was you when it wasn’t?
  • This song is about being wrongly accused.
  • But it’s also about enduring - about waiting for God to shine the truth, and being comforted while you wait.

  • Have you ever felt pressured to make a decision, and the still small voice in the back of your head says “wait”
  • Often you were glad you did because you’d find a new bit of revelation about the situation.
  • This is a song about holding out for the truth.
  • It gives you the words you need when you feel like caving in:   “I won’t fall as long as you’re around me.”
  • And the whole part about being “washed by the water?”   It’s about how good it feels to ultimately be vindicated.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about a time that your sibling falsely accused you of something, and how your Mom or Dad got to the truth.   Compare that to how we have a Heavenly Father who knows all, and will support you as you wait for the truth to come out.

Talk about a time that you found out the truth about a situation, and how that truth was refreshing to you.

This is a song about endurance, and as such you can relate it to anything that you’ve had to endure for a long period of time.
