Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Lord I want to feel your heart

and see the world through your eyes

I want to be your hands and feet

I want to live a life that leads

chorus

ready yourselves

ready yourselves

Let us shine the light of Jesus in the darkest night

ready yourselves

ready yourselves

May the powers of darkness tremble as our praises rise

Until the whole world hears Lord we are calling out

Lifting up Your name for all to hear the sound

Like voices in the wilderness we're crying out

as the day draws near

we'll sing until the whole world hears

Lord let your sleeping giant arise

Catch the demons by surprise

Holy nation sanctified

Let this be our battle cry

chorus

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

Want to be your hands and feet

Want to be a life that leads

To see you set the captive free

Until the whole world hears

and I pray that they will see more of you and less of me

Lord I want my life to be the song You sing

Until the whole world hears Lord we are calling out

Lifting your name up for all to hear the sound

Like voices in the wilderness we're crying out

as the day draws near

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

we'll sing until the whole world hears

TID-bits

  •   I have a friend who takes solar powered hearing aids to third world countries.
  •   He often meets opposition because the recipients are afraid they’re going to have to pay for them.
  •  When he tells them they’re free, then he sees tears of joy from the eyes of people who have been deaf for a long time.
  •   Isn’t that kind of what we do here as Christians?
  •   We bring a message of hope and love to a world that needs to hear it.
  •   A salvation that’s free.
  •   To people who have been deaf to it.
  •   Tears of joy usually follow.

------------------------------------------

  •   This (That) song talks about wanting to be God’s hands and feet,
  •   Have you ever thought to yourself “Gee, if I could just do ‘blank’ then God could really use me”?
  •   Maybe it doesn’t take a big plan.
  •   All you have to remember is this:   “Wherever you are...be there”
  •   Let me say it again...”Wherever you are...be there”
  •  That’s all God needs to use you.
  •  Just for you to be present and willing.
  •  If everybody did that, we could get the whole world to hear His message.

------------------------------------------

  • The chorus of this (that) song says “ready yourself”
  • (I always thought it said “Radio says” but that’s another story)
  • How do you ready yourself for your day?
  • You get up, get dressed, and get out.
  • The Bible talks about us getting dressed for the day, too.
  • It talks in Ephesians about us putting on the armor of God.   The Belt of Truth, The Breastplate of Righteousness, the Helmet of Salvation.
  • Each day is a battle, is it not?
  • Are you dressed for it?   Are you ready?

------------------------------------------

  •   Have you ever been camping and heard a coyote howl in the middle of the night.
  •   It’s a startling sound that wakes you up.
  •   Have you ever thought that your life is also a startling sound that wakes others up?
  •   (And I’m not talking about your snoring)
  •   I’m talking about you living as a Christian, living in such a way that is appealing, living so that   others take notice.
  •   A life that helps others hear about Christ.

  •   Mark Hall of Casting Crowns says that he had a mentor that would always end each note with the words “Until the Whole World Hears.”
  •   Is Jesus so important to you that you would make His message a part of your signature?

--------------------------------------------

  •   Mark Hall of Casting Crowns says that this (that) song has a lot to do with John the Baptist,
  •   Someone who preached black and white to a gray world.
  •   Someone who knew what he believed.
  •   Someone who loved enough to make sure others knew how to be saved.
  •   Someone who wasn’t as concerned about himself as he was about others.
  •   Are you striving to become more like that?

    Scripture References

    John 3:30

He must become greater; I must become less.

    ------------------------------------------

    Ephesians 6:13-17

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

    ------------------------------------------

    John 1:15

John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’”

    ------------------------------------------

    Isaiah 40:3-5

A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the Lord ; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain.

And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

    Your Own Experiences

What do you do to get spiritually ready for each day?   Do you find you have to prepare by getting into God’s word?
