Taking It Deeper

All creation cries out with longing

With groans only You can comprehend

And with wisdom, You always answer

And give the words of life

So unfailing

And Your glory shines all around us

Your faithfulness shown for all to see

When we think of all of Your wonders

The beauty of Your plan that's been revealed

We walk in Your light

When we walk in it

Shine, bright

Let Your glory fill this land

Lift high,

The King of Kings and great I AM

Jesus, You are the way

We can see the works of Your loving hands

With the hope and peace not made by man

When You poured out Your grace and Your mercy

And You held out Your arms

So we could see

And bled for all mankind

Set the captives free

Jesus You are the way (X4)

  • You probably have a question about something today.
  • There’s something in your life that is puzzling you.
  • Well, there’s a line here (there) that says “with wisdom you always answer and give the words of life, so unfailing.”
  • And the one who has that wisdom is Jesus.
  • He is the way to your answer.
  • Ask Him.
  • Start with the question:  "What's puzzling you today?"
  • Attach that to the line in the song that says "with wisdom you always answer"
  • Finish with "Jesus said He's the way and the truth and the life."   He's the ultimate answer in life.  If you believe that, then you can believe He's definitely the answer to what's puzzling you."

  • I love it when I have my GPS in a different city and it says the names of the streets wrong.
  • Even though it may know the way, it seems mixed up at times.
  • Following Jesus is like that.
  • He knows the destination, He knows how to get there, He just requires you to take it one street at a time.
  • And even if you yell out, “are you sure that’s the right street?”
  • He will still lead you through your uncertain place.
  • Start with talking about an experience where your GPS mispronounced the name of a local street .
  • Compare that to how you kept following it, even if you seemed unsure about it.
  • Finish with "Even if you're unsure about the direction Jesus is leading you, He will take you to the right destination in the end."

  • Ever have a kid that’s stuck on Peanut Butter.
  • Every lunch that’s what they want.
  • They can’t seem to see that there is more to the lunchroom landscape?
  • That’s kind of how we are, when we’re stuck in our habits.
  • But Jesus points the way to new wonders, and new life.
  • Here’s Jeremy Camp,   “The Way”
  • Start by talking about a kid who will only eat one thing, like Peanut Butter sandwiches or grilled cheese.
  • Compare that to how we all get stuck in habits.
  • Finish with "but Jesus is there to take our lives in new and wonderful directions, if we'll just follow His 'Way'"

  • Psalms 89:15 says “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.”
  • This is a song that,   if you sing it, you will be both acclaiming Him, and singing about the light of His presence.
  • So you might want to try singing along with it, especially if you want to be blessed.
  • I bet it will at least help you feel better.
  • Start with Psalm 89:15 that says  “Blessed are those who have learned to acclaim you, who walk in the light of your presence, O Lord.”
  • Compare that to this song which talks about walking in Jesus' light.
  • Finish with "There is no better way to be blessed than to walk in that light."

    Scripture References

    John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

    Romans 8:22 -25

We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.   Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?   But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

    Romans 8:26-27

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

    Psalm 56:13

For you have delivered me from death and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

    John 8:12

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

    1 John 1:7

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about an instance in your life when His wisdom showed up nice and bright for you.   Maybe in a child rearing lesson, or in a way of dealing with your spouse.   Maybe in a message at church?   Relate that Jesus is constantly showing His way, and encourage the listener that He will do it for them today.

The first line says “all creation cries out with longing.”   You, and your listeners are part of that creation.   Describe a time you cried out to Jesus.   Relate how He showed you the way.

Briefly take something from the news that is depressing.   Tell the listeners not to dwell on it.   Instead tell them to dwell on the words in this song that say “We can see the works of Your loving hands.   With the hope and peace not made by man.
