Taking It Deeper

Worthy is the,
Lamb who was slain
Holy, Holy, is He
Sing a new song, to Him who sits on
Heaven's Mercy Seat
[Repeat 2x]
Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And I will adore You!
Clothed in rainbows, of living color
Flashes of lightning, rolls of thunder
Blessing and honor, strength and
Glory and power be
To You the Only Wise King,
Filled with wonder,
Awestruck wonder
At the mention of Your Name
Jesus, Your Name is Power
Breath, and Living Water
Such a marvelous mystery
Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come,
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And I will adore you!

This is an incredibly powerful version of this song:

  • There are times when a chorus gets stuck in your head.
  • I’m not even talking about an actual song.   The chorus may be words like “You’re no good, you’ll never be worthy.”
  • It’s at those times that you have to do what this (that) song, Revelation Song, says:
  • Sing a new song.
  • One that focuses on God.
  • Because when you focus on Him, and how worthy He is, He turns around and tells you how worthy you are.
  • (OPTIONAL) This is the chorus you should have stuck in your head...

  • One of the best lines of this (that) song is “who was and is and is to come.”
  • What I find interesting is that we tend to not zero in on the “and is to come” part when it comes to life.
  • We’ll focus on the past, and we’ll focus on where we are, and how much we don’t like where we are.
  • However, I know that I need to focus on the “is to come” part a lot more, and realize that He is working in my life.   How about you?

  • You know how when your car's battery goes dead and you put the jumper cables on it, and you have that moment when you get in your car, hoping that it's all gonna work?
  • Then you turn the key and the car fires up, and you breathe a sigh of relief?
  • There's a moment of uncertainty there, and then a moment of revelation - "Ah, it was just a dead battery."
  • That's what happens to us with God's Word.
  • We read it, we have uncertainty about it, but then God zaps you with meaning for your life.
  • He makes Himself clear to you.
  • That song is about seeing Him literally in heaven, but you don't have to wait for that.
  • Reading the Bible helps you to get a jump start on seeing him.
  • Just like jumper cables.

  • Remember a time in school when you just couldn't get a math problem so you asked the teacher to help you?
  • Do you remember the feeling of clarity when she went over it with you, and then all of a sudden you got it?
  • This (That) song is all about clarity, and realizing that Jesus is the final answer,
  • If you're having trouble seeing that you can ask Him for help.
  • After all, He is the ultimate Teacher.

  • I love the line in there: "Jesus, Your Name is Power, Breath, and Living Water."
  • Look at it like this: Our body can't have Power unless it has Air and Water,
  • And since the Bible says He created Air and Water and everything else,  He also creates the power you need (through Him) to make it through life.

    Scripture References

    Revelation 4:7-8

The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle.  Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under its wings. Day and night they never stop saying:

"Holy, holy, holy  is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."

    Isaiah 29:22-23

Therefore this is what the LORD, who redeemed Abraham, says to the descendants of Jacob: "No longer will Jacob be ashamed; no longer will their faces grow pale. When they see among them their children, the work of my hands, they will keep my name holy; they will acknowledge the holiness of the Holy One of Jacob, and will stand in awe of the God of Israel.

    Exodus 15:11

Who among the gods is like you, LORD? Who is like you majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

    Deuteronomy 7:19

You saw with your own eyes the great trials, the signs and wonders, the mighty hand and outstretched arm, with which the LORD your God brought you out. The LORD your God will do the same to all the peoples you now fear.

    Job 5:8-10

But if I were you, I would appeal to God; I would lay my cause before him. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. He provides rain for the earth; he sends water on the countryside.

    Psalm 89:4-6

The heavens praise your wonders, LORD,  your faithfulness too, in the assembly of the holy ones. For who in the skies above can compare with the LORD?  Who is like the LORD among the heavenly beings?

    Your Own Experiences

Remember how you were scared by thunderstorms when you were little?   Now, not so much.   Think about how, as you grow, you understand how God prepares you and helps get you through the storms of life.

What in life would you describe as a marvelous mystery?

Think about the line: "Who was and is and is to come" and ask yourself if you are   living as if He's coming back.   What is it that you’ve done “before” that you need to confess?   What’s going on in life “now” that you need to change?   What can you thank God for, knowing that in faith He will be there in the “is to come”?
