Taking It Deeper

Everytime I try to play it safe
Holding back just a little part of me
I find myself forgetting what
I say that I believe
The promise of Your Word
Is all I need
I'll lay my life down
And give it up
I'll give it up
I wanna be reckless
Cause You are endless
I wanna be shameless
And shout Your greatness
I will not be afraid
To surrender my way
And follow who You are
I wanna be reckless, reckless
I will lose my life
And just let go
Because I know this world is not my home
With fearless faith
I won't be moved
Unshakeable inside Your truth
You laid Your life down
And gave it up
So I'll give it up
(Repeat Chorus)
I won't waste any more time
My life's Yours it is not mine
Use me Lord no matter what's at stake

  • Quick - try to remember what you got for Christmas!
  • The further away we get from December 25th, the harder it is to remember.
  • So you can probably relate when this (that) song says “I find myself forgetting what I say that I believe."
  • It's because we often forget that which is most meaningful to us.
  • For instance we know that God loves us unconditionally, but we tend to not live that way on a daily basis.
  • This (That) song invites you to remember and live in the love God has for you.

  • What are your plans for God?
  • What do you plan for Him to do for you?
  • I think that's where most of us like to live, because it seems safe when we lay out our life's plan for God to follow step by step.
  • This (That) song has it the other way around.   It talks about us being reckless when we decide to trust in God to lay out the plan.
  • It's a way that seems frightening to us, because we have to give up control.
  • But it is a way that is ultimately safe, because it allows the one who has our total interest at heart to have total control.

  • We have a natural fear of recklessness.
  • We don't drive recklessly, and if we're smart we're careful when we climb a ladder.
  • We also remind our kids not to run through the house with toys because something might slip and break.
  • This (that) song reminds us that it's OK to be reckless in one regard, though, and you want to know what it is?
  • It's in trusting God to lead you to a better place.

    Your Own Experiences

When did you give up a pursuit so that God could use you in a greater way?

When was the last time that you forgot that God loved you, and that He was leading you?   What brought you back to that reality?

How are you playing it safe in regards to your life right now?   Especially in an area where you should instead step out in faith.
