Taking It Deeper

Sometimes it's hard to keep believing
In what you can't see
That everything happens for a reason
Even the worst life brings
If you're reaching for an answer
And you don't know what to pray
Just open up the pages
Let His word be your strength
And hold on to the promises (Hold tight)
Hold on to the promises (Alright)
Jesus is alive so hold tight
Hold on to the promises
All things work for the good
Of those who love God
He holds back nothing that will heal you
Not even His own Son
His love is everlasting
His faithfulness unending
Oh, if God is for us who can be against us
So if you feel weak
Neither life, nor death
Could separate us
From the eternal love
Of our God who saves us

  • When we receive a promise from God, It’s like giving a three year old a $20 bill and turning them loose in the Target toy aisle.
  • You’ve given them something of great worth, and you try to get them to hold on tight to it, which they do, until they put it down to pick up a toy.
  • So you, as the parent come along and put it in their hands again.
  • God keeps coming back to us, giving and re-giving His promises over and over, until we finally realize their worth.

  • Did you ever see that Krazy Glue commercial where the guy puts a drop of glue on his hard hat and then hangs off of a beam?
  • This song is saying that the promises found in the Word of God are like that glue.
  • They provide enough strength for you to keep hanging on.

  • A friend once told me that even if it seemed like God wasn’t there for me, it didn’t mean that He wasn’t moving.
  • An example may be your job.   God could be putting you in the mind of another person to ultimately get you where He wants you.
  • It may mean you have to wait a little longer, but that’s OK, because it’s a little more time you get to wait with Him.

  • When I was a kid I wanted to be the school crossing guard.
  • I wanted to wear that fancy orange shoulder harness belt thing, or the shiny yellow vest, and have the authority to stop others.
  • This is a crossing guard song.   It’s an example of how God puts out His arms and keeps us safe until it’s time to move forward again.

    Your Own Experiences

Name a time in your life that you grabbed on to one of God’s promises.

Have you ever had a time when you didn’t know what to pray?   Remind the listeners that if that’s happening to them then maybe the best thing they can do is not pray any words at all. Instead just grow quiet, listen, and wait.

Simply remember and share one of your favorite promises from God.
