This is a "testimony" song.  It is a song you sing as you're going through trials, and after you have come out of them.

When you have a difficult experience it is a chance for others to see how God's love guides you through the process.  I had a friend who was losing his young wife to cancer.  Throughout the ordeal he inexplicably felt God's love and strength.  He would say that he was going through the toughest test ever, and yet every day there was this "bubble of grace" surrounding him, getting him through.

This song points to God's love being an impenetrable bubble covering you, one that is strong enough to deflect the fear that comes from the mountains in front of you, or the grave that is pursuing you.

Encourage your listeners that they may be going through a trial so that they may have a testimony.  1 Peter 3:15 says: "But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord.  Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have.  But do this with gentleness and respect."

Let the listeners know that the grace and love of Christ that is experienced through trials will ultimately point others toward Him.

  • When something fails it's often because its become weakened from lack of attention over time.  The metal has rusted, the concrete has chipped away.
  • Ultimately the elements - the wind, the rain, the vines growing up from the earth - these all take over and the structure fails.
  • If you equate that to our lives, you'll see how God's love is our maintenance program.
  • His love keeps us built up, it keeps us fresh, it heals our wounds, it strengthens our resolve.

  • The end of life.  It's the scariest thing that we can imagine.
  • Yet, for those who believe in Jesus, we know that He will be there to pull us through that non-returning door.
  • Immediately after, He will have us pulled into His arms.
  • That's why this song says "I Never ever have to be afraid"
  • Because He's not just there to pull us through death, He's there to pull us through life.

  • This song talks about mountains, it talks about the grave.  It also talks about our trials.  These are all things that can overwhelm us.
  • However its message is that we should allow ourselves to be overwhelmed instead with the fact that God's love never gives up on us.

  • I saw this documentary about Hawaii's Kilauea (Kill-a-way-a) Volcano.
  • Kilauea means "much spreading" in the Hawaiian language, and this volcano has been constantly erupting lava since 1983.  Enough lava to pave a road around the world three times!
  • There seems to be an unending supply.  All one has to do is look at the natural forces of this planet - lava from a volcano, water in the ocean, sand on the shore - to see how God creates things with unending supply.
  • His love is no different.  It is more than enough to get you through.

    Love never fails. But where there are prophecies,  they will cease; where there are tongues,  they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

    Talk about something you had to endure, and how God's love got you through it.

    Have you ever hiked a mountain?  Talk about how it's not a walk in the park.  Sometimes you have to climb.  There's power in your legs and arms to get you over it. Compare it to the power found in God's love to get you over the emotional mountains you face.

    Talk about how each day is one more opportunity to put into practice the one thing  that remains above all - God's love.
