TID-bits

Here are 5 practical ways that you can let love take you over at the beginning of each day:

1. Set an alarm for 6:33, and when it beeps, say the words of Matthew 6:33:   “Lord, let me seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness.

2. When you look in the mirror, remember your loved ones and pray for them - for instance, when you see that you have your mother’s eyes, pray for her;   if people comment that your daughter has your mouth, pray for her.

3. The first time your phone rings, think about your “calling” from God.   Realize that you are in a place where you can touch another life for Christ, today.   You may not be where you want to be, but you can realize that you’re another step toward the life that God wants you to have.   Specifically, a life that loves and serves others.

4. As you’re getting dressed remember the words of Colossians 3:14:   “And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”   Let your clothes remind you of the outward appearance you show the world, and in the same way,   let them remind you that God’s love should be the outward attribute we place on others, even if they don’t return it.

5. Place a card that says Matthew 28:19 in your car:   “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”   Let it remind you of the commission that Jesus has called us all to do.   Realize that the only way you can do that is to show God’s love to people every time you go somewhere.

  • Have you ever had a dream that you’ve been excited about?   A dream that you feel God birthed in your heart?
  • Then, once you start walking it out, fear creeps in.   You start to think that you’re not good enough - not capable enough to make it happen.
  • It’s at that point that you have to remember the words you find in the middle of this (that) song:
    • “I’m praying, Father, help my heart believe
      That right now You’re singing over me
      And fill me up with Your love”
  • God gives us those dreams, and in our weakness we have to continually ask Him to help us believe it.
  • One of the greatest byproducts of His love is that He gives us the faith to carry on.   1 Corinthians 13 says so.   It says “Love always perseveres.”

  • The greatest moments in life are those moments when we are completely filled with love - like getting married, or seeing our child for the first time.
  • It seems like we spend all the other times in life getting filled up with things that don’t truly satisfy.   Like trying to appear successful, or keeping up with gossip, or following the latest craze.
  • That’s why this (that) song can be life changing.   It can remind us that we need to start each day by filling ourselves back up with the greatest truth of all - that God loves us, right where we are, just as we are.

    Think about this statement:   “Can you reach your fullest potential without someone showing you love?”   Ask that question to your listeners and follow     it up by mentioning that that’s one of the main reasons why Christians exist -   to show God’s love to others, so that they can reach their full potential.

    What are the first words you say to yourself when you get out of bed in the morning?   May I make a suggestion? How about “God, please fill me with   Your love so that I may then show it to others.”

    Do you have a favorite glass?   For me it’s a blue glass that came from my Mom.   I also think of Si Robertson on Duck Dynasty, and his plastic container of tea that He always seems to be carrying around.   Share with your listeners that if Christians truly prayed to be containers of God’s love, we’d be containers that the world would want to carry around.
