Taking It Deeper

Don't know where to begin

Its like my world's caving in

And I try but I can't control my fear

Where do I go from here?

sometimes its so hard to pray

When You feel so far away

But I am willing to go

Where you want me to

God, I trust You

There's a raging sea

Right in front of me

Wants to pull me in

Bring me to my knees

So let the waters rise

If You want them to

I will follow You

I will follow You

I will follow You

I will swim in the deep

'Cuz You'll be next to me

You're in the eye of the storm

And the calm of the sea

You'll never out of reach

God, You know where I've been

You were there with me then

You were faithful before

You'll be faithful again

I'm holding Your hand

God Your love is enough

You will pull me through

I'm holding onto You

God Your love is enough

I will follow You

I will follow You

MIKESCHAIR - Let The Waters Rise from MIKESCHAIRTV on Vimeo.

  • Remember how nervous you or your kids were the first time you ever jumped into the big pool?
  • You had to trust the hands of the parent who was coaxing you in.
  • They weren't going to let you drown.
  • This (That) song’s a perfect reminder when you're afraid you're getting in over your head.
  • Dad's not gonna let you drown.

  • It's usually better to see the water than to be IN the water.
  • Especially at an aquarium.
  • (I love the six inch plexiglass between me and the piranhas).
  • God is there to help keep you safe even when you're standing up against the dangers of life.

  • It's not usually the winds of a hurricane that cause the most damage.   It's the storm surge.
  • And if the water is coming up around you today, trust God, to lead you to higher ground

  • Costal communities usually have some sort of flag system to report how bad the waves are.
  • And red flags are near the top of the chart.
  • Is this a choppy red flag day for you? One with dangerous rip currents that threaten to pull you under?
  • Then this song is your life preserver.

  • Lifeguards don't carry Life Preservers.   They carry things called Rescue buoys.
  • These are things that they can swim with while they pull victims to shore.
  • In the same way, Jesus isn't here to preserve your life.
  • If you've accepted Him in your heart, He's given you eternal life.
  • No preserving needed.
  • Instead He's here to rescue you, to pull you along, when you get in too deep.

Have you ever rented a car in a strange town?   Then you know the feeling of “where do I go from here” like it says in the first verse of the song.   You've relied on a GPS before, even though you can't see what is guiding it.   Can you rely on God when you’re uncertain of life’s direction?

There’s a line in the song that says “I’m holding your hand.”   Think back to a time when you held your someone's hand,  Hand holding usually goes with something peaceful and joyful memories?    If life is raging around you, stop for a minute.  Put your hands together.  Know that God is there to hold your hand through it.

Psalm 91:10

Let those who love the Lord hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Matthew 8:26

He replied, “You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

Psalm 32:6

Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found; surely when the mighty waters rise, they will not reach him.
