Taking It Deeper

Little hands, shoeless feet
Lonely eyes looking back at me
Will we leave behind the innocent too brief
On their own, on the run
When their lives have only begun
These could be our daughters and our sons
And just like a drum I can hear their hearts beating
I know my God won't let them be defeated
Every child has a dream to belong and be loved
Boys become kings, girls will be queens
Wrapped in Your majesty
When we love, when we love the least of these
Then they will be brave and free
Shout Your name in victory
When we love, when we love the least of these
When we love the least of these
Break our hearts once again
Help us to remember when
We were only children hoping for a friend
Won't you look around
These are the lives that the world has forgotten
Waiting for doors of our hearts and our homes to open
If not us, who will be like Jesus
To the least of these
If not us tell me who will be like Jesus
Like Jesus to the least of these
Boys become kings, girls will be queens
Wrapped in your majesty
When we love, when we love the least of these
Then they will be brave and free shout your name in victory
We will love we will love the least of these
We will love the least of these (Repeat)

There’s a popular TV show right now called “Downton Abbey.”   It’s about two factions of people in the early 1900’s - those born into wealth, and those born into servitude.   As the seasons have rolled on, there have been storylines about those who are striving to lift themselves up into positions where they can control their own destiny. It’s been happening because members of the royalty are good moral people, and they are doing what they can to lift their servants up into exciting new turn-of-the-century positions - like secretaries and shop clerks :)

If you encounter any stories where one person lifts another up, then this is the song to hook into.   It is a song that lets us know that we are ALL royalty when we are sons and daughters of God.   Unfortunately, a lot of us don’t realize it, and it takes kind and loving moral people to bring that truth.   That is the truth we bring when we “love the least of these.”

  • If you are doing laundry or dusting today, then take a break and go watch the video of this (that) song...
  • Just Google “Kings and Queens Audio Adrenaline”
  • Once you see it, you’ll be thankful that your kids don’t have access to purple paint or powder.
  • And you’ll also be thankful for all the things you do have.

  • Remember how great you felt when you were a kid and you were invited to a sleepover?
  • I remember that because this (that) song has lines in it that say “every child has a dream to belong and be loved” and “we were only children hoping for a friend.”
  • We all want to be included and accepted.
  • And even though this song is mainly about helping out kids in need, you can also let it encourage you if you’re not feeling included or accepted today.
  • Because, we too are boys and girls wrapped in His Majesty, no matter how old we are.

    Scripture References

    Matthew 25:40

“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

    Matthew 19:14

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

    Romans 8:17

Now if we are children, then we are heirs--heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.

    Your Own Experiences

If you have ever sponsored a child, share an experience where you’ve had contact with them.   Talk about how rewarding it is to help lift a child out of poverty. Then invite people to visit handsandfeetproject.org.

Talk about your remembrances of the Haitian Earthquake, and how Audio Adrenaline is doing their part to help that country by caring for some of it’s orphans.   Talk about how this song came about because of the work they’re doing.   Remind your listeners that they don’t have to go to a far off land to help.   They can help meet needs right here at home through your radio station.

Did you ever have a hole in your shoe, or your sock?   Remember how uncomfortable that was?   The first verse talks about shoeless feet. Remind the listeners to think about that as they hear this song, and to remember how they’re blessed, and to always be mindful about how they can be a blessing to others.

One Response so far.

  1. Romans 5:17 says we are to reign in life. As a child of God we don’t have a 2- or 4-year term, we can reign victorious every day of our life. It is our choice to reign, especially when it comes to choosing to love “the least of these.”
