Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Life gets tough, and times get hard
It’s hard to find the truth in all the lies

If you’re tired of wondering why
Your heart isn’t healing
And nothing feels like home
Cause you're lost and alone just screaming at the sky

When you don’t know what to say
Just say Jesus
There is power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words won't come
Cause you’re too afraid to pray
Just say Jesus

Whisper it now, or shout it out
However it comes out, He hears your cry
Out of nowhere He will come, you got to believe it
He will rescue you
Just call out to the Way, The Truth, The Light

When you don’t know what to say
Just say Jesus
There is power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words won’t come
Cause you’re too afraid to pray
There is just one name
Strong enough to save
There is just one name
There is just one name
Jesus

When you don’t know what to say
Just say Jesus
There’s still power in the name
The name of Jesus
If the words wont come
Cause you’re to afraid to pray
If the words wont come
And you don’t know what to say
Just say Jesus

TID-bits

  • There’s a reaction when I call my dog’s name.
  • There’s a reaction when my toddler calls my name - "Mommy (or Daddy)"
  • So why isn’t there a reaction when I call my teenager’s name when it’s time to go to school?
  • Those are the times I have to call on a name that always gets a reaction: Jesus.

---------------------------------

  • Sometimes we have code words in life.
  • Maybe a husband and wife have a secret code when it’s time to leave a get together.
  • Or a mom has a certain look she shines to her kid across the room to remind them to behave.
  • This (That) song has your code word for when life isn’t going right.

---------------------------------

  • Here’s a real life testimony to this song:
  • My 49 year old brother-in-law passed away tragically on Friday while traveling in Switzerland with my sister. Today, in the midst of unspeakable grief, I got in my car and turned on the radio.  Playing was a song I’ve never even heard before (and I listen all the time!)  “When you don’t know what to say…just say JESUS”
My soul is so blessed by God’s beautiful timing.  It was just for me!

---------------------------------

  • If you don’t think there is power in the name of Jesus, then answer this question:
  • What would happen if you shouted it out in the middle of a crowded mall?
  • You’d get a reaction for sure.
  • What we don’t realize is that some sort of reaction takes place even if we whisper it out in the security of our own home or car.
  • Calling on Jesus moves Him to action.

    Scripture References

    Acts 4:12

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”

    ---------------------------------

    Romans 10:13

for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

    ---------------------------------

    John 14:6

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    Your Own Experiences

What’s the first word you usually use in a prayer?  I’ve found it to be the word “Dear”  - as in “Dear Lord, Dear Heavenly Father, Dear Jesus.”  Talk about how we hold His name dear, and how this song talks about how we should hold onto His name often.

    ---------------------------------

Talk about a time recently that you were left speechless.  Like a report of a disaster.  Usually the first thought that crosses your mind when something like that happens is the word Jesus.   Remind the listeners that it should be our default word for every situation in life.

    ---------------------------------

This song says “it’s hard to find the truth in all the lies.”  Talk about how every time we lie, it just creates a maze that we have to dance around. However asking for forgiveness in the name of Jesus always clears the path.

Playing off the Romans 10 scripture… It says EVERYONE who calls will be saved… not if you do everything right you will be saved… not if you go to church every week… not if you are perfect … just everyone… don’t be afraid to call on the Lord when you need Him – He’s there!

Remember when you wanted something as a kid and your mom would say “What’s the magic word?” Here’s a song that tells you that magic word.
