Taking It Deeper

Hold it all together

Everybody needs you strong

But life hits you out of nowhere

And barely leaves you holding on

And when you're tired of fighting

Chained by your control

There's freedom in surrender

Lay it down and let it go

So when you're on your knees and answers seem so far away

You're not alone, stop holding on and just be held

Your world's not falling apart, it's falling into place

I'm on the throne, stop holding on and just be held

Just be held, just be held

If your eyes are on the storm

You'll wonder if I love you still

But if your eyes are on the cross

You'll know I always have and I always will

And not a tear is wasted

In time, you'll understand

I'm painting beauty with the ashes

Your life is in My hands

Lift your hands, lift your eyes

In the storm is where you'll find Me

And where you are, I'll hold your heart

I'll hold your heart

Come to Me, find your rest

In the arms of the God who won't let go

I’ve often thought that God’s love was like the ocean, and we’re the bottle that floats in it.  We cast our cares on a note, we place it in the bottle, we seal it up, and we cast it into the waters.  God then holds on to it and takes it where it needs to go.

In this metaphor, your cares are completely surrounded by God’s love.  It’s as if His infinite water is holding on to you.

Are you willing to let go and let Him hold your cares?  There may be deep trials, raging storms, and unseen dangers, but He’s still surrounding you, and He’ll deliver you where you need to go.

1 Peter 5:6–7 (ESV)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Psalm 47:8 (ESV)

God reigns over the nations; God sits on his holy throne.

Psalm 73:23–24 (ESV)

Nevertheless, I am continually with you; you hold my right hand.  You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will receive me to glory.
