Taking It Deeper

You changed my world
When You came to me
You drove a passion
In my soul down deep
Lord, to follow You in everything

I don't want to go somewhere
If I know that You're not there
'Cause I know that me without You is a lie
And I don't want to walk that road
Be a million miles from home
'Cause my heart needs to be where You are
So I don't want to go

So come whatever
I'll stick with You
I'll walk, You'll lead me
Call me crazy or a fool
For forever I promise you that...

repeat chorus

Without Your touch
Without Your love
Filling me like an ocean
For Your grace is enough
Enough for me
To never want to go somewhere
If I know that You're not there

repeat chorus

  • Ever have trouble getting out of bed in the morning - like maybe to go exercise?
  • Then say a prayer like this:   “God, the world is a cold hard place, and I’m really cozy and comfortable right now.   So will you be to me what your word says you are?   Will you be my comfort?   I don’t want to go through this day unless you’re going before me.”
  • Then know that whatever comes your way, God will be there.

  • A few years ago there was a Bible study called “Experiencing God” that seemed to be everywhere.
  • And in that study, one of the main points was to “join God where you could see He was already working”
  • So the question is, “Are you looking to join with Him, or are you hoping that He will join with you?”

  • I was looking at my kid’s yearbook and they had a question in there that asked:   “If you could invite anyone to dinner, who would it be?”
  • I was actually surprised to see that one kid said “Elvis.”   How do they even know who Elvis is nowadays?!?
  • Anyway it got me thinking who I’d invite to dinner...
  • And I thought, “Why not God?”
  • Isn’t God like the biggest celebrity you could get?   He’s definitely a bigger king than Elvis!
  • The great thing is, that God will come to dinner with you.   God will always come to you, no matter what you’re doing...but only if you invite Him!

  • And God will always turn right around and invite you to take an incredible journey through life with Him.
  • In fact, once you have Him alongside of you, you find it’s not much fun going without Him.

    Scripture References

    Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

    Psalm 16:11:

"You will make known to me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; in Your right hand there are pleasures forever.”

    Psalm 23: 1-3

The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.   He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,   he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

    Your Own Experiences

We’ve all had to wait on someone to go somewhere.   Maybe waiting on your date to get ready, maybe waiting on a kid to get in the car to go to church.

Think about how God is someone you’d want to wait on before you go somewhere.   Because things aren’t truly ready until He says they’re ready.

A line in the middle of the song talks about being “A Million miles from home”   which is what it feels like when your car breaks down.   Has that happened to you?

Think about how you were rescued, and the relief you felt when someone came to get you.   How you were happy to go with that person.   Compare that to this song.

Have you ever had to help someone walk?   Or...maybe you broke your leg once and someone had to help you?

Think about how it’s OK to be helped or to be led sometimes.   That’s basically the thought behind this song.
