Taking It Deeper

I have searched to find
The meaning of this life
Something that would
Fill my empty soul
Some believe a lie
Choose darkness over light
But I will stand and let
The whole world know
I choose Jesus
I choose Jesus
The One who first chose me
I stand unashamed
Trusting in one name
‘Cause I have seen the cross
And I believe
This choice comes at cost
All other things are lost
No other love could
Mean so much to me
I choose Jesus
I choose Jesus
For now and eternity
He chose to love me
When I felt unlovable
He chose to reach me
When I felt unreachable
He carried me out
Of my fear and doubt
How I want the world to know
I choose Jesus
I choose Jesus
I choose Jesus
The One who first chose me
(I don’t want anyone but You)
My Jesus
I choose Jesus
For now and eternity
For now and eternity

  • A loving dad will always choose his child
  • Even when she won’t walk by his side at the mall, because he’s not cool.
  • Even when she and her friends get real quiet when he walks in the room.
  • During those years of fear and doubt, a loving dad will always want to be there for his child.
  • If you identifiy with that, you’ll identify with this song...

  • We have a special tool that replaces halogen bulbs in our house.   It’s a little suction cup thingy.
  • One day we were searching all over for it.
  • We’d find ourselves stopping in the middle of the house, scratching our heads, surveying around, looking...
  • Then we’d resolutely go to another place, certain where we’d find it.
  • This (That) song reminds me of that.
  • When we search for something we often find ourselves stopping and thinking and going off in the direction where we think we’ll find resolution.
  • But we never have peace until we actually find what were looking for.
  • And when we do...what do we do?   We shout out “I found it.”

  • You’ve heard of buyers remorse.
  • It’s when we buy something, but we’re not happy we’ve bought it.
  • Sometimes we act like that when it comes to spiritual things too.
  • We buy into a religion, until it seems like it’s a list of rules, and we’re not happy about it.
  • That’s why you have to choose Jesus, not just the rules.
  • When you continually go back and declare that He is God...
  • When you step toward Him in prayer, when you encounter Him, when you listen to Him and let Him carry you out of the fear and doubt that is mentioned in this (that) song.
  • Then you’ll find you’ll never have remorse in following Him.

  • Have you noticed that everyday we’re searching for something?
  •  It may be something physical like keys or our cell phone.
  • But usually it’s something like strength to at least make it through a few things on the to-do list.
  • Jesus should always be the beginning of your search.
  • A quick prayer to Him can help in getting that strength.
  • You’ll often find that He is good at being both the beginning and the end of any search.

  • There are only a few things that qualify as final choices.
  • Your family, for instance.   There are no choices in that.
  • For pretty much everything else in life, you can make a choice, and then change it later if you want.
  • However, this song is about a choice that has to be final, for now and eternity.

  • Did you know that otter pups don’t know how to swim?
  • In fact they have to be brought by their mother into the water for lessons.
  • It takes someone who loves us very much to bring us to the cross of Jesus.
  • Because only through that cross can we become who we are truly meant to be.
  • If you’d like to know about that choice, we’d be happy to help.
  • You can call us at (PHONE NUMBER)
  • Because we want to help you swim through life.

    Scripture References

    John 8:12

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’ ”

    John 15:16

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you   so that you might go and bear fruit   –fruit that will last–and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.

    Deuteronomy 30:19-20

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you   that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses.   Now choose life, so that you and your children may live   20 and that you may love   the   Lord   your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the   Lord   is your life,   and he will give   you many years in the land   he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

    Your Own Experiences

Have you ever tried buying new furniture, or a car?   Talk about driving all over town, wearing yourself out with all the choices.   Even after you choose you may have felt buyers remorse.   Remind the listener that there is one choice that will not wear them out or give them remorse...Jesus

This song has a verse that says “I stand unashamed, trusting in one name, because I have seen the cross, and I believe.”   When was a time you stood unashamed of Jesus in front of others.

Describe a time when someone asked you out and how special you felt because someone was interested in you.   Compare that to the line in this song about how Jesus chose you.
