Taking It Deeper

Yea though I walk through the valley
I know that You are always right beside me
And I will fear no evil
You're my rock
And my strength
You comfort me
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
I hear You singing over me
I once was lost but now I'm found
And it's beautiful
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
It covers every part of me
My soul is silent
I am found
And it's a beautiful sound
You carry me through the waters
Where Your peace clears away all my sorrow
And nothing can separate us from Your love
Oh, Your love it will always be
You were healing in the pain
You were shelter in the storm
Hallelujah You restore my soul

  • To keep a car running smoothly it needs scheduled maintenance.
  • Keeping a check on the fluid levels, changing the oil, watching the tire wear - keeping tabs on all of that results in a smooth ride.
  • That’s the way grace works in our lives.  Grace is the standard maintenance that God provides for us.
  • Every day we go back to it.  We apply it over us.  When we start to hear the sound of our own failures, we go back and let His grace repair us.
  • Grace is the sweet silent sound of a life in tune with God.

  • No matter how much I try, my kitchen will not stay clean.
  • Dirty dishes always find their way there.  Mail likes to hang out and clutter up the counters.
  • It reminds me of the line in this song that says “your peace clears away all my sorrow.”
  • I know that I feel a little more peace when the dishes are put away and the counters are wiped down.
  • Just like the peace I feel when I let God clear the clutter in my life.

  • Have you ever practiced “waiting” in prayer?
  • It’s a tough thing to do.  You make yourself quiet and you just focus on God for as long as you can.  You wait to see what He has to tell you.
  • Most of the time I can’t go two minutes without losing concentration.
  • However, there have been times when I’ve been able to extend the stillness, and finally get a word from Him.
  • This song talks about that when it says “my soul is silent, and I am found, and it’s a beautiful sound."

    Your Own Experiences

There’s no sweeter sound than when your toddler yells “Daddy’s home” when you walk in the door.  Take that thought and turn it around.  Let your listeners know that there’s no sweeter sound than when your heavenly father calls your name when you return to Him.

Go to oldtimecandy.com and look up a piece of candy that you used to enjoy as a kid.  Talk about how amazing and sweet it was.  Talk about how you’d like to have some of it again.  Then compare that to how we call God’s grace amazing and sweet, and how it should be something we want to go back to again and again.

Talk about singing a lullaby over your baby, and how you did that to comfort them.  Then remind the listeners that God will sing over us, and comfort us with His words when we take time to listen.
