Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

There are no words no phrase I could create
There is no melody that I could make
How do you sing about a love so deep
Without feeling like you missed something
I could try but I could not explain

(Chorus)
His kind of love, is reckless for us
His kind of love, will never give up
Till the whole world knows how far He went to show
His kind of love

Tell me what kind of God would choose to save
The bruised, the broken, the sinners, the runaways
How do you ever try to comprehend,
This love that knows no limit
I could try but I could not explain

(Repeat Chorus)

(Bridge)
This is our God He is strong
And His mercy is our song
He won't stop chasing us
That's just His kinda love

(Repeat Chorus)

TID-bits

We’re going to try something a little different with this song.   One basic devotional thought that you can share with your audience.  Or, take this thought home, play the song for your family, and use this as a devotion time with your kids:

DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT

High tailing it.   You’ve seen it before.   You’re driving down the road and out of the corner of your eye here comes four legs, a tail, and a rapid fire bark in hot pursuit of your car.

Dogs have what is called a “prey drive” That’s P-R-E-Y. drive.   It is a natural instinct to hunt down possums and, unfortunately,   pathfinders.   A dog’s wiring makes them inclined to pursue.

This song talks about God pursuing us.   It says things like “His love is reckless for us, it never gives up, and He won’t stop chasing us.”   Romans 5:7 and 8 talks about His pursuit:

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

He pursues us, even when we’re not worth pursuing!

Think about what you’re pursuing in life.   Remember that pursuing usually equals intense desires, and that is exactly what His kind of love is.   It is an intense desire to be with you!

The question is:   Do you have an intense desire to be with Him?   How’s your “pray drive?” That’s P-R-A-Y. Drive?

REAL LIFE EXAMPLE OF THE SONG IN A NUTSHELL:

It’s a song that’s like the boy who tries to switch bus seats on the 7th grade field trip,   all because he wants to pretend to fall asleep on your shoulder.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCE:

Romans 5:7-8

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

APPLICATION QUESTIONS:

What do you pursue in life?   How does it fill your thoughts? Compare it to how God pursues you.

------------------------------------

Do you have a desire to pray to Him?   Share how you have prayed before, and remember how it was answered.   Could that instance be the start of a stronger desire to pray?
