Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Lord Of all creation

Of water, earth, and sky

The heavens are Your tabernacle

Glory to the Lord on high

God of wonders beyond our galaxy

You are holy, holy

The universe declares Your majesty

You are holy, holy

Lord of heaven and earth

Lord of heaven and earth

Early in the morning

I will celebrate the light

When I stumble in the darkness

I will call Your name by night

God of wonders beyond our galaxy

You are holy, holy

The universe declares Your majesty

You are holy, holy

Lord of heaven and earth

Lord of heaven and earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

God of wonders beyond our galaxy

You are holy, holy

Precious Lord reveal Your heart to me

Father holy, holy

The universe declares Your majesty

You are holy, holy

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth

TID-bits

  • Did you ever think that the universe is actually more “dark” than it is “light?”
  • That there are vast expanses of deep black space, but no matter where you go, there will always be specks of light.
  • It’s a basic lesson that we need to internalize - that no matter how dark our life may seem at the time, there will still be light that shines on us from the God of Wonders.

  • This song gives us a great model for worship.
  • It has words like “Lord of all creation” and “the universe declares your majesty” which let us express the immenseness and greatness of God.
  • But it also has lyrics like “I will call your name by night” and “Precious Lord reveal your heart to me” which describe the personal connection we have with Him.
  • Worship is the realization of those two things - that we have a one on one relationship with the one true God who is over all creation.

  • The definition of wonder is:  a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.
  • And the most surprising, wonderful thing of all is that God, who created all and is all wants to draw close to the most lowly and humble.
  • Thomas Brooks says “Here is a wonder! God is on high; and yet the higher a man lifts himself up, the farther he is from God; and the lower a man humbles himself, the nearer he is to God. Of all souls, God delights most to dwell with the humble, for they do most prize and best improve his precious presence.

    Scripture References

    Isaiah 57:15 (ESV)

For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: “I dwell in the high and holy place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

    Daniel 6:27

He delivers and rescues; he works signs and wonders in heaven and on earth, he who has saved Daniel from the power of the lions.”

    Habakkuk 1:5

“Look among the nations, and see; wonder and be astounded. For I am doing a work in your days that you would not believe if told.

    Your Own Experiences

Take a look at the definition of wonder:  “a feeling of surprise mingled with admiration, caused by something beautiful, unexpected, unfamiliar, or inexplicable.”  Describe a time when you experienced that or you saw your child experience it.  Give thanks to God that He gives us those experiences.

    ———————————————————

When have you “stumbled in the darkness, and called His name by light?”

    ———————————————————

What problem did you have that seemed huge, but in the light of eternity was brought down to size?  Did it shrink after months of prayer to where it’s now just a dot in the timeline of your life?  An immense God does that.  He takes what seems to be insurmountable and brings them down to size.

One Response so far.

  1. Miracles still happen! The Voice of the Martyrs shared how God used swarm of angry bees to save the lives of a group of pastors in Sudan. 20 pastors were being detained by soldiers, facing death, when a swarm of angry wild bees arrived. The bees did not harm the pastors, but they attacked the soldiers and forced them to flee into the bush. As the soldiers fled the pastors were able to untie themselves and to escape. Psalm 24:1 says: “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it…” He will use whatever He wants in creation to demonstrate His love for His people!
