Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Hurting heart and broken wings
Cannot stop Your love from always finding me
No more days wasting away
I finally realize the gift inside of me
My strength alone will never be enough
But Your arms keep lifting me up
You tell me I've been made free
You give me everything I need to walk in my dreams
You whisper words that free my soul
You're the reason I have hope
You're everything I need and more
You made me
You made me free

I was caged in then You opened
Every door that held me bound and You gave me the key
No more pressure I can just breathe
The girl I tried so hard to be, has always been me
I'm free, free to love, free to live, free to take my life and give it all to You.

TID-bits

  • Faith can be a fight...
  • Sometimes we struggle to believe that God will come through for us, and set us free,
  • If that's you today, I want to remind you again that God hears you.
  • Psalm 34:4 says: "I sought the LORD, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears"
  • Call on Him and He will show you the way,
  • Because when you fight to have faith, He will give you sight when He is sought.
------------------------------
  • Your kids probably think that true freedom would be being able to stay up all night watching Cartoon Network on a Friday night.
  • But usually by 11:30 at the latest they're zonked out on the couch.
  • We usually don't get too far in the freedom department under our own will power.
  • Dara MacLean knows that when she says "My strength alone will never be enough."

------------------------------

  • If you're a gentleman, then you know how important it is to open the doors for the ladies.
  • But who gets to open doors for us guys?
  • When this song says "I was caged in, then you opened every door that held me bound and You gave me the key"
  • There's your answer...

------------------------------

  • As this song says "he whispers words that free my soul"
  • And He often does that through His word, the Bible
  • Here's an example...
  • (READ ONE OF THE SCRIPTURE VERSES BELOW)

------------------------------

(FOR MEMORIAL DAY or 4TH OF JULY)

  • There are those who have fought for our freedom, and who have paid a great price.
  • And often through that fight, they or their family members experience what the first words of this (that) song say...
  • "Hurting hearts and broken wings."
  • The next time you see a serviceman or woman thank them for their service,
  • Because even though this (that) song is about God,
  • Our people in uniform keep us free too.

------------------------------

  • We don't mean to get trapped, but sometimes it just happens.
  • Maybe in the overall grand plan of life it happens so that we can discover that God is all powerful, and is more than able to get us out of it.
  • Maybe it's so that we can then be the means He uses to help others be free.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about an instance you had where you know God's love found you and make you free.  Maybe around Memorial Day or 4th of July you can have listeners call in and tell their stories about that.

    -----------------------------------

Talk about what He has given you that helps you follow your dreams.  Invite the listeners to share that too.

    -----------------------------------

Sometimes we just get stuck in things that drain time away from us - like Farmville or Angry Birds.  Has that happened to you?  Did you get past it to where you can say that you're not "wasting away your days" like this song talks about?  Talk about how God wants us to live a life of purpose, and He will help us be free to do that.
