Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

There's got to be more
Than going back and forth
From doing right to doing wrong
‘Cause we were taught that's who we are
Come on get in line right behind me
You along with everybody
Thinking there's worth in what you do

Then like a hero who takes the stage when
We're on the edge of our seats saying it's too late
Well let me introduce you to amazing grace

No matter the bumps
No matter the bruises
No matter the scars
Still the truth is
The cross has made
The cross has made you flawless
No matter the hurt
Or how deep the wound is
No matter the pain
Still the truth is
The cross has made
The cross has made you flawless

Could it possibly be
That we simply can't believe
That this unconditional
Kind of love would be enough
To take a filthy wretch like this
And wrap him up in righteousness
But that's exactly what He did

Take a breath smile and say
Right here right now I'm ok because
The cross was enough

Then like a hero who takes the stage when
We're on the edge of our seats saying it's too late
Well let me introduce you to grace grace
God's grace

No matter what they say
Or what you think you are
The day you called His name
He made you flawless

Ephesians 2:8-9

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Picture an assembly line of iPhones, with robots laying out all the electronics perfectly inside each case; with all their glass fronts untouched by human hands - not a smudge or a fingerprint to be found.

What happens when one shows up with a defect?  The software that runs the line deems it unworthy, and a robot picks it up and puts it in a reject pile.

Often our problem is that we think we’re in an assembly line, and we have to look flawless, just like we think the other people around us are.  Maybe we don’t have to be flawless, but we at least compare ourselves to them.  That’s the easiest way to feel down about yourself. You then kick yourself to the reject pile.

Humans aren’t assembly line creatures.  We are “handcrafted” and as such, we have flaws.  God sees this, and He picks us up.  When He does, He rewrites our software so that we see ourselves as fearfully and wonderfully made.

Once you realize that, you’re able to stay off of the assembly line of constant comparison.

So, what is your software - all your thoughts and feelings - telling you today?  He sees you flawless through all your handcrafted beauty.  Can you let Him rewrite you so that you can see that?
