Taking It Deeper


I want you as you are, not as you ought to be

Won’t you lay down your guard and come to me

The shame that grips you now is crippling

It breaks my heart to see you suffering


Cause I am for you

I’m not against you


If you want to know

How far my love can go

Just how deep, just how wide

If want to see

How much you mean to me

Look at my hands, look at my side

If you could count the times I say you are forgiven

It’s more than the drops in the ocean


Don’t think you need to settle for a substitute

When I’m the only love that changes you


Open your heart

It’s time that we start again


  • Have you ever experienced “Love at First Sight” where you’re immediately smitten with someone?
  • It’s like falling in the ocean.  It’s an “all-of-a-sudden” submersion.
  • However, really falling in love takes time.  It’s more like  - drip - I’ve met you.  Drip - you make me laugh.  Drip - I want to spend more time with you.  Drip,  let’s pick out silverware.  Drip, drip, drip.
  • I have to admit that my relationship with Jesus is like that.  It started with an immediate submersion into His love, but then it turned into a constant drip of learning to trust Him more.



Ephesians 3:16-19

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,  so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,  may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,  and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


Matthew 18:21-22

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother or sister who sins against me? Up to seven times?” Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.


Isaiah 44:22

I have swept away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.”


Zechariah 1:3

Therefore tell the people: This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the Lord Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the Lord Almighty.
