Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next
What happens next

[Chorus]
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

[Chorus]

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

TID-bits

Here’s the quote for this song: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with just one step.”

Most of us fear change, but we don’t fear steps.   Ask your listeners if they need to make a change, (because I’m sure 99% of them want to change something in their life),  then invite them to take one step toward the change they need today by listening to this song.

--------------------------------------

  • We often give grief to the little lizard known as the “chameleon.”
  • He’s often looked upon negatively, because he changes color to go along with his surroundings.
  • However, to truly change for the better, don’t we have to take on new habits, new mindsets, etc.   Don’t we do that when we live a life of faith?
  • So perhaps it’s time for you to step out in faith, and let God give you some new vibrant colors.

--------------------------------------

  • If you have a friend who just had a baby
  • You might want to post the first verse of this song to her facebook page.

--------------------------------------

  • Do you like being the center of attention?
  • No?   Then I dare you not to listen to the first verse of this song
  • It talks about everyone watching you now,
  • And waiting for what happens next.
  • No pressure.

--------------------------------------

  • They say that the number one fear people have is of public speaking.
  • I’m not sure if that’s true though.
  • Because I think that right up there next to it is the fear is of making the wrong decision.
  • This (That) is a song about making a decision, and more than that about making a commitment.
  • Which is another big fear we have.
  • However, this commitment is the difference between who you are, and who you could be, like the song says.
  • And if you don’t like who you are anyway, making the commitment to accept Christ into your life is the best move you can make.

--------------------------------------

  • Remember “A Christmas Story” where Schwartz jumps immediately to the “Triple Dog Dare?”
  • That’s kind of what this (that) song is about.
  • Daring you to move past today’s troubles.

--------------------------------------

  • We get overwhelmed by choices.
  • So we tend to just shut down.
  • This, however, is a song that won’t let you stay still.
  • It reminds you that ultimately you have to make a choice.
  • A choice to move past your hurt, and into a new life.

--------------------------------------

  • This (That)   song has a great question in it:   “Where can you run to escape from yourself?”
  • It’s basicially saying that sooner or later you’re going to be backed in a corner, with salvation staring you in the face.
  • And you’re either going to have to choose it...
  • Or not.
  • You can find the answer here, with Jesus.

    Scripture References

    Deuteronomy 30:19

This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.

    --------------------------------------

    Joshua 24:15

But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

    --------------------------------------

    John 15:9-11

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about an aspect of your personality before you knew Christ, and how that aspect has changed after accepting Him.   Tie that into the line “Between who you are and who you could be”

    --------------------------------------

Talk about praying for a friend or family member who needed to know Christ and ultimately accepted Him.   Tie that into the first verse that talks about watching and waiting for someone to make a decision.   Give encouragement to the listener that your station is there to pray for that person, and to wait alongside them for that person to come know Christ.

    --------------------------------------

Talk about a day where everything went wrong, and you were waiting for it to move on.   Encourage the listener that if they are having that kind of day, that it will move on, and that they can pray for strength from Jesus.
