Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

When the path is daunting
And every step exhausting
I'm not alone
I'm not alone, no, no

I feel You draw me closer
All these burdens on my shoulder
I’m not alone
I'm not alone
You pull me from this place

Hallelujah
You carry me every day
You carry me all the way

Hallelujah
You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

How Your love has moved me, yeah
To the foot of all Your glory
I'm not alone
I'm not alone
I'm not alone

Hallelujah, You carry me every day
You carry me all the way

Hallelujah, You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

All of these cities You have built
And every cathedral You have filled
To all of creation You gave life with Your hands

And with those hands You comfort me
You lift me up from my knees and carry me
You carry me

Hallelujah
You carry me every day
You carry me all the way

Hallelujah
You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

The cross
You carry me to the
You carry me to the cross

TID-bits

  • You see the ambulance on the side of the road and you start to pray, because you see the EMT’s carrying a person on a stretcher.
  • When we go through trauma we need others to carry us.
  • Trauma isn’t always physical like that, though.
  • It can be the spouse or child who won’t come back, the financial strain of a struggling business, the loss of a loved one.
  • These are things that also produce trauma.
  • We are here to carry you when they happen.

---------------------------

  • I’m starting to see reports of “iPad” elbow.
  • It’s a repetitive stress injury from carrying an iPad.
  • When we carry something over and over for a long time, it tends to leave us with   a lingering pain.
  • The only way to stop the pain is to stop carrying it.
  • This song reminds you that someone else can carry the thing that gives you injury.

---------------------------

  • Even though sheep are part of a fold, they will still get lost from time to time.
  • Fortunately, God will not let us keep wandering.   He will go looking for us.
  • He will leave the 99 sheep to go look for the one, like it talks about in Luke 15.
  • He loves you enough to bring you back.

---------------------------

  • Have you ever thought of repentance as a joyous activity?
  • Repentance is turning away from sin, and back to God.
  • When you do that, you are trusting that what God has for you is what is best for you.
  • The fortunate thing about it, is that God will shoulder the burden for you.
  • He’ll take your weakness and give you strength.
  • It’s a joyous activity because you get to know God as He carries you through it.

--------------------------

  • You might want to check out Luke, Chapter 15.
  • It’s God’s lost and found department.
  • There’s a story about a lost sheep, a lost coin, a lost son.
  • In every instance what was lost was found, and there was much rejoicing.
  • It’s like this (that) song...if you’re feeling lost, God is going to find you, and He’ll carry you back.

---------------------------

  • Somedays I wish I could be a newborn again.
  • Able to be all wrapped up, and carried everywhere, without all these worries.
  • Fortunately the Bible says that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.
  • So maybe you and I can claim today a “New Creation” day - and let God carry us.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about, or ask your listeners about, how a health scare drew them to a place where they knew God was carrying them.

    ----------------------

Talk about the last time you moved, and the heaviest box or piece of furniture you have. The lesson is that we always need someone else to help us do the heavy lifting, and that goes for our emotions as well.

    ----------------------

Talk about God’s amazing coincidences, or His “divine appointments” and about one you specifically had.   Talk about how He comes through with something right when you need it.   Something that carries you through the problem.
