Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

It's been so long since
You felt like you were loved
So what went wrong
But do you know
There's a place where you belong
Here in My Arms

CHORUS:
When you feel like you're alone in your sadness
It seems like no one else in this whole world cares
And you want to get away from the madness
You just call My name and I'll be there
You just call My name and I'll be there

The pain inside
Has erased your hope for love
Soon you will find
That I'll give you all
That your heart could ever want
And so much more

(REPEAT CHORUS)

You just call My name
You just call My name
Call My name say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive
Call My name say it now
I want you to never doubt
The love I have for you is so alive
You just call My name
You just call My name
You just call My name

The love I have for you is so alive
The love I have for you is so alive
You just call My name
You just call My name
You just call My name

TID-bits

  •  This (That) song goes along so well with Spring, because it’s really about new growth.
  • It’s about someone who feels so unloved, so alone, so in despair.
  • And yet, just by calling on Jesus - like putting water on a seed - new hope can grow.
  • Realize, though, that the seed has to be wrapped in the soil for it to work.
  • You have to allow yourself to get quiet, to get prayerful, and to get wrapped up focusing on Jesus.   You’ll find Him when you do.

-----------------------------------

  • When I was a kid, I’d be out playing, and from down the street I’d hear Mom calling out my name.
  • Usually it was because dinner was ready.
  • It’s funny how the roles are reversed in my life now.
  • Nowadays, it’s me calling out the name of Jesus.
  • When I do, I find He comes running to me - and He’s the one who feeds me.

-----------------------------------

  • That song is all about running to Jesus when you feel alone,
  • But it also talks about running to Him when “we want to get away from all the madness.”
  • The Bible references this in Matthew 11 when it says:   “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.   Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

-----------------------------------

  • In 2006 a judge in New York allowed Jose Luis Espinal to legally change his name to Jesus Christ.
  • Espinal said he was moved to seek the change when he realized, “I am the person that is that name.”
  • Somehow I don’t think that Jose had transformed into the Savior, but he had the right idea.
  • It is a noble goal to become more like Jesus, don’t you think?

------------------------------------

  • This (That) song is like being at the Doctor's office.
  • It's like being in the lobby and having the nurse call your name.
  • What happens next?  You stand and go with her.
  • In the same way, God will stand and go with you when you call His name.
  • It's like having the Doctor, the great healer of all pains, come to  you.

------------------------------------

  • I have a friend who is really good at organizing.  She's always taking care of people's events, or getting folks to bring food over to sick friends.
  • She uses this special "sign up genius" website, to get people to sign up to bring food.
  • Bottom line, she's good at calling others to do things. They seem to respond well to her.
  • This (That) song is a "sign up genius."  It's words are a reminder that you can get God signed up on your side, to comfort you, to guide you, and to show you love when you need it.

------------------------------------

  • That phone call you got today.  That e-mail.  That conversation from a friend.
  • Sometimes things like that can take an easy-going-light-hearted day and immediately turn it little darker.
  • It's at those times that you find yourself calling out to God.
  • It's amazing how calling His name is like pulling a chain on a lamp.
  • It takes just a tiny bit of effort, but it brings back a great deal of light back into your heart.

------------------------------------

  • Think about the last time you saw a long lost friend.
  • Think about how you shouted out their name, and reached out for them either with a handshake or a big hug.
  • God doesn't want to be a long lost friend.  He wants to be close every day.  He wants to shout out your name, reach out His hand, and draw you in.

    Your Own Experiences

Have you ever been so overwhelmed, and at the point where you just couldn’t think straight, that all you could do in your prayers is repeat the name “Jesus” over and over?   Why do you think that works so well?

    -----------------------------------

Have you ever had a light timer that would come on whenever it got dark?   Maybe your Christmas lights were plugged into one, or your living room lamp.   Talk about how this song is like that timer.   How the name of Jesus switches on something in your Spirit that makes the darkness go away.

    -----------------------------------

This song says “I want you to never doubt the love I have for you is so alive.”   Have there been times in your life that you have doubted?   How has Jesus proven His love for you?

    ------------------------------------

Describe a time when you were there to comfort somebody unexpectedly. Explain that God will comfort us like that when we call on Him.

    ------------------------------------

Do you need God's love to get you through life?  Tell the listener about an instance where He showed you His love to get you through.

    ------------------------------------

Talk about someone in your church or at your station who you call on when you need something done. Compare that to how we can call on God when we need to know we're loved.
