Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Do you wonder why you have to
Feel the things that hurt you
If there's a God who loves you
Where is He now

Maybe there are things you can't see
And all those things are happening
To bring a better ending
Someday somehow you'll see you'll see

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning

My friend you know how this all ends
And You know where you're going
You just don't know how you'll get there
So say a prayer

And hold on cause there's good for those who love God
But life is not a snapshot
It might take a little time but you'll see the bigger picture

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still have a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming
So hold on you gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning

Once you feel the weight of glory
All your pain will fade to memory
Once you feel the weight of glory
All your pain will fade to memory, memory, memory

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still got a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming

Would you dare would you dare to believe
That you still got a reason to sing
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It can't compare to the joy that's coming

Come on you've gotta wait for the light
Press on and just fight the good fight
Cause the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the hurt before the healing
Oh the pain that you've been feeling
It's just the dark before the morning
Before the morning

TID-bits

  • Josh Wilson wrote this (that) song because of a little boy named “Jacob David”
  • Jacob was born with only two chambers in his heart instead of four.
  • The doctors told his parents that he wouldn’t live over two days.
  • God, of course, had other plans, because Jacob is now over 8 years old.
  • Jacob’s mom, in going through the ordeal, had this bit of wisdom:   “If we can trust God with our eternity, why can’t we trust Him with our “todays?”

-------------------------------------

  • We were at a restaurant and we could tell that our server just wasn’t willing to go the extra mile.   She said for instance that it wasn’t possible to trade out one side dish for another.   The manager had another story for her though.
  • There are times that we just know that bad customer service is coming.
  • That’s not the case with God.
  • “Under promise and over deliver” is definitely His motto.
  • We know He wants to give us more than what we expect.
  • When this trial you’re going through is over and the check is delivered, expect to see “a better ending” as Josh Wilson says.

-------------------------------------

  • These are some words that motivate me:   “The Best of Me for the Rest of Me.”
  • They were the motto spoken by a man named Chris who believed that Jesus would be glorified through the cancer he suffered through.
  • He was going to give Jesus his all, and to make sure others knew about him, no matter how much time he had left.
  • And he trusted that God would be made known to everyone he knew no matter how he was healed.
  • Chris dared to sing through his suffering
  • Would you dare to believe that you still got a reason to sing no matter what you’re going through?

-------------------------------------

  • There is incredible wisdom in one line of this (that) song:
  • “Life is not a snapshot”
  • Especially when you think that a snapshot is always something in the past!
  • Every second you live is always another second closer to the resolution that God is bringing you.

-------------------------------------

  • Why do we hold pity parties?
  • Maybe there’s a reason for them - remember the story of the prodigal son?
  • Here was a dude who moved away and used up a very sizable inheritance from his dad.   One that was given to him before his dad died.
  • Then, after spending all the money, he had a big pity party.
  • What was amazing was his dad took him back, showering him with even greater love than before.
  • Maybe that pity party you’re having is to get you to return back to a father who always loves us?
  • One who’s waiting to give us more than we can imagine.

    Your Own Experiences

Talk about Facebook envy.   Here’s an example from my life.   I’m looking at pictures of my friend in Hawaii on the same day that a storm blew over my back fence.   I’m wishing I could go to an island paradise instead of shelling out big bucks for a home repair.   Tell a story from your life that is like that, and then tell the listener that these things come around.   Remind them that this song is a “come around” song.

    -------------------------------------

Talk about giving your dog a bath, and how she dreads it when she sees the water running.   However, what happens when it’s all done?   She runs and shakes and gets all excited.   This song describes that.   We may be living in a state of dread, worried about what might be coming,   but then, when we get past it...oh what incredible joy we feel!

Corrie Ten Boom said:   “Worry is a cycle of inefficient thoughts whirling around a center of fear.”   Mention a time when you were worried.   Did the worry do you any good?   Encourage the listener to NOT focus on the fear of what might happen.   Instead, put God in the center, and focus on the positive outcome He wants to have for you.
