Taking It Deeper

I believe in the Son

I believe in the risen one

I believe I overcome

By the power of His blood

I'm alive

I'm alive

Because He Lives

Let my song join the One that never ends

Because He lives

I was dead in the grave

I was covered in sin and shame

I heard mercy call my name

He rolled the stone away

(Repeat CHORUS)

Because He lives

I can face tomorrow

Because He lives

Every fear is gone

I know He holds my life

My future in His hands

(Repeat CHORUS)

The word “Because” is a favorite one of parents.  It’s kind of the default authority word.  Say for instance that you tell your child to do something and they ask you why.  If you don’t feel like explaining yourself you just say “because.”

You don’t always have to explain yourself when you’re the parent.  It’s a key perk.

Of course trust is involved.  Your child may not want to obey when your only reason is “because,” but since they have trust in you, they ultimately will.  You find this out when you put your faith in Jesus - a Savior who is alive.  When you find yourself succumbing to fear and doubt, and you pray expecting an answer, be ready to hear Him say to you the word “because.”

It’s because He wants you to trust Him.  He wants you to see your answer played out as time goes by.

  • You are alive, and after that you are truly alive.
  • What do I mean by that?
  • Well, to start off,  it means that right now you are living and breathing,
  • And if that’s the case, it means that Jesus can turn your situation around.
  • He can do that because He’s alive.  He turned around the one thing that none of us can turn around - being physically dead for three days.
  • But even if that doesn’t happen - Even if your situation results in death.
  • Then you will be even more fully alive than you are right now.
  • Because. He. Lives.

  • This is a song about joining in the chorus of praise.
  • A great Psalm to go along with that is Psalm 148.  What’s cool about this Psalm is that it praises God in the order that God created everything.  From the Heavens, to the lights in the sky, to the earth, water, trees, creatures, all the way to men.
  • It reminds us that we’re part of a bigger picture - made up of things that are always praising God.
  • Here’s that Psalm:

148 Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord from the heavens;

praise him in the heights!

Praise him, all his angels;

praise him, all his hosts!

Praise him, sun and moon,

praise him, all you shining stars!

Praise him, you highest heavens,

and you waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of the Lord!

For he commanded and they were created.

And he established them forever and ever;

he gave a decree, and it shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,

you great sea creatures and all deeps,

fire and hail, snow and mist,

stormy wind fulfilling his word!

Mountains and all hills,

fruit trees and all cedars!

10  Beasts and all livestock,

creeping things and flying birds!

11  Kings of the earth and all peoples,

princes and all rulers of the earth!

12  Young men and maidens together,

old men and children!

13  Let them praise the name of the Lord,

for his name alone is exalted;

his majesty is above earth and heaven.

14  He has raised up a horn for his people,

praise for all his saints,

for the people of Israel who are near to him.

Praise the Lord!

    Scripture References

    Galatians 2:20

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

    John 5:21

For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom he is pleased to give it.

    1 Corinthians 15:41

So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

    1 Peter 3:18

For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit.

    Your Own Experiences

Have you ever had a fearful situation and you asked others to pray for you?  You can tie that into the main word in the chorus of this song:  “Amen.”  It’s a word that means we’re all in agreement.  You can also tie that into the fact that you wouldn’t have others pray for you unless you truly believed that the one we’re praying to is truly alive.

I have had days when I have dreaded what is scheduled to come up tomorrow.  How about you?  Can you latch on to that lyric that says “Because He Lives, I can face tomorrow?”

Have you ever pushed on a giant boulder?  We’re you able to move it?  I thought not.  This song talks about how Jesus rolled the stone away from the entrance to His tomb.  That is just an exclamation point to His resurrection.  Can you emphatically state that Jesus is alive, and can you put an exclamation point on it?  Saying those words strongly, and with conviction will help to get you through!
