Taking It Deeper

Lyrics

Days will come when you don't have the strength
When all you hear is you're not worth anything
Wondering if you ever could be loved
And if they truly saw your heart they'd see too much

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You're beautiful

And praying that you have the heart to find
Cause you are more than what is hurting you tonight
For all the lies you've held inside so long
And they are nothing in the shadow of the cross

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You're beautiful

Before you ever took a breath
Long before the world began
Of all the wonders He possessed
There was one more precious
Of all the earth and skies above
You're the one He madly loves enough to die

You're beautiful
You're beautiful
In His eyes

You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are made for so much more than all of this
You're beautiful
You're beautiful
You are treasured, You are sacred, You are His

TID-bits

  • You know, you cant wear makeup when you go in for surgery,
  • And yet, your loved one never looks more beautiful to you than when you see them in the hair net, and the paper gown, weak and hurting.
  • Thats a picture of how God sees us. He sees us hurting, often weak, and unable to cure ourselves.
  • And in that state, when weve had all our external beauty wiped away, - when we feel that were at our ugliest, thats when He comes and reminds us of how beautiful we really are.

------------------------------------

  • You know how they say "absence makes the heart grow fonder?
  • You see that in the tears of a wife when her husband comes home after being deployed overseas,
  • Or in the hug from a parent seeing his child after their first semester away.
  • When relationships are forced to be apart, you see how treasured, how sacred, how beautiful they are.
  • It's the same way when we've gone away from God.
  • Your absence makes His heart ache.
  • You are His beautiful child, and you are worthy enough to come back to His arms.
------------------------------------
  • Do you ever compare yourself to others when it comes to the looks department?
  • Instead of comparing, think of us like light bulbs.
  • Some may shine with 25 watts, some at 50, some movie stars may glow at 150 watts.
  • However, no one shines brighter than the sun.
  • Gods love outshines anything we may consider beautiful.
  • As such, when we're all seen with the light of His love, we are all seen as beautiful.

------------------------------------

  • Heres what one listener had to say:
  • Thank you for this song. I am a 44 year old woman who has been discarded for someone who is much younger, someone I've been told is much smarter, and much more beautiful . . . I will hold tightly to God's truth, that in his eyes I am beautiful, cherished . . . even loved! And that is what truly matters.

  • (FROM JEN DRISKILL AT KSBJ)
  • For those days when you look in the mirror and find lipstick on your teeth, and you just cant keep your hair from being frizzy, know that Christ still finds you beautiful and so does Mercy Me...

------------------------------------

  • Jeremiah 17: 7 & 8 says that those who trust in the Lord are like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
  • Are you trusting in the Lord?
  • Those who do, find themselves beautiful like a tree planted by water.

------------------------------------

  • Even though the name of the song is beautiful its not really about beauty.
  • Its about God wanting to be with us.
  • Its about how God had a plan all along to send Jesus to pay the price for our sins.
  • ...See, God is holy, and what is holy cannot be holy when there is sin. And sinful, is what we indeed are.
  • (I was sinful at least 5 times before breakfast today)!
  • Yet God still wants to be with me and with you.
  • Jesus took that sinful part out of the equation - so that God can be with His beautiful creation.
  • Start by saying this song is not about beauty. Its about God wanting to be with us, and His plan to do that.
  • Share the gospel message about a holy God who cannot mix with unholiness, and how He had to sacrifice His holiness by taking all the sin of the world upon Himself and kill it on the cross.
  • Finish by talking about how He took sin out of the equation so that He could be with us - His beautiful creation.

------------------------------------

  • 1 Peter 3: 3 & 4 talks about our obsession with beauty.
  • It mentions braided hair, gold jewelry, and fine clothes - all the outward things we do to make ourselves beautiful.
  • If you get depressed because you dont have those things, remember the kind of beauty that God says is of great worth in that verse: A gentle and quiet spirit.
  • Get quiet with Him today, and let Him tell you youre beautiful.
  • Talk about our obsession with beauty. You can probably find an example of it in todays newspaper.
  • Mention that its not worth getting depressed over those things.
  • Finish by talking about what God considers of great worth - the stuff on the inside - and the gentle and quiet spirit. Suggest that the listener get quiet with God today to let Him tell them about their inner beauty.

------------------------------------

  • Do you ever have problems with the whole Proverbs 31 woman?
  • Wondering how youll ever stack up against the list of that perfect woman?
  • Theres only one verse you need to remember in that chapter. Verse 30: Charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
  • Dont worry about all the super-woman stuff. Just fear the Lord - which means, just have a healthy respect and trust in the Lord.
  • Describe all the things you or your wife had to do yesterday. Talk about being a superwoman.
  • Compare that to the woman in Proverbs 31. Mention that its good to be resourceful, and to work diligently.
  • Finish with the verse from that chapter that says Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised Mention that having fear or in this case a healthy respect for God is a truly beautiful thing.

  • That song (This song) has something to in common with Motorcycle Safety Training.
  • One thing they teach you is that if you see a hubcap in the middle of the road, look away, dont stare at it, because if you do, youll naturally steer toward it.
  • In the same way, if your mind keeps staring at thoughts of how un-lovely you are, youre going to keep gravitating toward those thoughts.
  • You need to look away from them, and instead stare at what God says about you - that you are beautiful.
  • Mention that you have a friend who took a motorcycle safety training class, and they told him not to fixate on things in the road, because you tend to steer toward them.
  • Compare that to our lives where we tend to fixate on how un-beautiful we are.
  • Finish with you need to fixate on God instead, and let Him tell you about your true beauty.
